retro breakfast

retro breakfast

I have had another great feedback photo from the delivery of the egg cosies this week.

That is a very cool retro breakfast. Thanks again Grace.

I also have another small batch of tea cosies that are going onto folksy this week ( http://www.folksy.com/shops/tinyinc )

Not much making at the moment as life seems busy but a handful of pressies are next and I must get a wriggle on……

They won’t knit themselves!!

Grace’s tea cosy present in use

It is very unusual, but most welcome, to get direct feedback and a little back story on the things that I make and that go off to new homes around the country (or world as with Peter’s gift to his girlfriend).

Grace bought about 4 tea cosies leading up to christmas so imagine my delight when I got an email from her with a photo of the one that she gave her mum going straight into use on Christmas morning.

christmas morning tea

What is even more delightful is that Grace has decided to take up knitting herself to relieve stress so I am very pleased to welcome another budding crafter to the fold!!

Good luck and hope you enjoy it.

Thanks again for buying, Grace and I hope that your mum’s tea cosy is enjoyed for very many cups of tea to come!

cosies for christmas

The rush has begun and people are really starting to shop for Christmas

I’ve listed lots of tea cosies and they are doing really quickly.

There are some still listed for sale and more to be added.

4-cup tea pot tea cosy

My best customer, Grace, who bought a small sized tea cosy in the spring has been back and bought 4 more large tea cosies!

I have been asked to match Grace’s original small tea cosy with egg cosies so I’d better get the knitting needles going again.  I hope I still have the matching wool…………

tinyinc’s new tea cosies

By far the items that I sell the mosts of are tea cosies.

They are all from a very old pattern that my mum found in a stash that she keeps threatening to throw away but can never quite bring herself to do so.

They take about 3 100g balls of cotton knitting yarn if you did them in a block of colour but I prefer, by far, the multi colours.

I’ll pop these new ones on folksy and see how they are received.

tinyinc’s tea cosy featured on ukhandmade

it has been tough finding time to make things and even tougher making enough things to really believe that this could be my way of making a country living.

So just when you least expect a bit of lovely news, you get an email message to say that your folksy item has been featured in a blog.  This one is still available to buy.

UK Handmade is one of those great showcase sites like try handmade where us makers get a bit of a helping hand.

I’m very pleased to be featured….

tinyinc knitted tea cosies

tinyinc’s tea cosies seem to be the things that tinyinc makes that sell the best and they are certainly some of the most popular gifts I give out.

there are about 20 of them in various places around the uk including ‘the original‘ which went to toby in dorset…

managing my full time  job and still finding time for my hobbies and my efforts towards earning a country living is proving difficult to manage and I have really struggled to find time lately.

my mum has stepped into the breach and has been busy.  it is thanks to her that I have 8 new tea cosies to sell.

she finds the short winter days a bit depressing but has been happy to fill her time with a bit of colourful knitting.

I am incredibly grateful for all her hard work.

Aren’t they lovely and in the true spirit of tinyinc, each one is different and won’t have been seen before.

some of these will go onto folksy, some will go to the ‘all the fun of the fair’ and some will go to pearl barley.

I am very excited about pearl barley. It is a new tea rooms organisation that is going to do afternoon teas in the style of ‘pop up’, ‘underground’  or ‘urban’ type dining.  Their next one is on the 13th & 14th of February 2010.

It will be amazing and I am sorry I won’t be able to be there to report in full.

Tinyinc tea cosies are invited to tea there though; some will be used and will become part of pearl barley’s stock of equipment and some will be for sale.

I recently read a blog by a lady who crochets and supplies to a shop in central london.  So, with that in mind, I set up a meeting with the lady owner and went along with some of my stuff.

tinyinc's 'handybag'

I have to go back again before christmas with some flopsy dolls, children’s aprons and also some of my applique cushions but, in the meantime, a few of my tea cosies and a couple of  ’handybags’ are now gracing the shelves of ‘all the fun of the fair’ for the coming christmas shoppers.

tinyinc celebrates 50 blogs

tinyinc retro 'racing' teacosy

It seems fitting that in celebration of my 50th blog post that I should be celebrating selling another tea cosy since the very first thing I sold as tinyinc was also a tea cosy, THE tinyinc tea cosy!

I call this style of tea cosy the retro racing tea cosy as it reminds me a bit of  racing flag, though much prettier.

I love tinyinc teacosies and have 3 of them that are all used at home.  I have the very, very original 4 cup tinyinc multi coloured retro racing tea cosy which I managed to burn on the gas hob once but it is still usable and the burn survives the washing machine.  I have a 2-3 (small) cup tea cosy that is in cream, terracotta and green that gets most use.  The other is a blue and green striped pom pom tea cosy that is used a bit less than the other two. I suppose it serves as a back up of sorts.

Anyway, the one recently sold is from a handful that I advertised on Folksy just last week and it is winging it’s way to edinburgh as a christmas pressy for my customer’s sister.

tinyinc hand made some more stuff

flopsy's boyfriend 'fred'

I have made quite a few bits lately and I have even got my mum busy for Tinyinc too.

I’ve had an odd commission and a few of my bits are in a shop now.  It is so nice to have your efforts appreciated and hopefully they will sell and I will be supplying more.

tinyinc sold a tea cosy!

tinyinc tea cosy

tinyinc tea cosy

My web site hasn’t been launched yet.  The design and layout aren’t decided and finding time to sort this out has proved harder than it should have been.

In the interim, everyone has suggested signing up to etsy, flickr and any other photo or selling site, especially those that specialise in handmade stuff.

JC found Folksy and I like this much better than Etsy.  It is a beta site so it is still being developed. Anyway, it worked and a chap in worcester will be receiving my multi coloured tea cosy in the post tomorrow!
